We are the oldest debating society in the Netherlands and, if you fancy, consistently have been amongst Europe's finest. The Erasmus Debating Society is the best place for all people to learn how to speak confidently, give thorough analyses on all subjects and most of all: how to have fun while debating!

We pride ourselves on being a big family for all those who share our passion for speeching, and on being the best thing that ever happened to those people who at first did not yet feel they are confident speakers.

You are always welcome to come visit on our weekly monday evening debates at T3-16 starting at 19:00 and see if debating is something for you! Obviously: no strings attached!

News

March 1st - Manchester IV

News just came in that Jeroen Heun and Daniël Springer won the ESL category of the Manchester IV, and have even made it to the Main Final event. EDS congratulates these two debaters with their excellent performance!

February 13th - Bonapartiaans Debattoernooi!

EDS dominated the Bonapartian Debating Tournament this Saturday, with a tournament win by Sharon Kroes and Luciën de Bruin, as well as having Daniël Springer and Jeroen Heun in the semi-finals. To top it off, many EDS teams were placed particularly high on the team tab, and Daniel and Jeroen were lauded at the end ceremony for their speaker performance in the categories of Analysis and Presentation, respectively. Congrats guys!

January 5th - World's!

Last week, the Dutch delegation in Antalya, Turkey, did excellent! With 3 out of the 4 Dutch teams making it to the semi-finals of the English-as-a-Second-Language competition at the World Universities Debating Championships, we have every reason to be proud! More specifically for Rotterdam: Jeroen Heun and Luciën de Bruin made it to the semi-finals, but lost it together with Amsterdam to Malaysia and Leiden. Leiden unfortunately barely missed out on the title win in the final round. Still, great performance!
